Symptoms

An existing account with the username "admin" disappears from the interface after the cPanel update.

After a cPanel update, the server/system administrator can not create an account with the username "admin".

Description

The username "admin" is a reserved username in cPanel versions newer then 11.110.0.74, 11.126.0.31, 11.128.0.21 and 130.0.11.

We've opened an internal case for our development team to investigate this further. For reference, the case number is CPANEL-49179. Follow this article to receive an email notification when a solution is published in the product.

Workaround

If the account is new, then select a different username.

If the account already existed on the server before the update, then modify the username using the API command noted here:
Reserved Invalid and Misconfigured Usernames
