Symptoms

When changes are made to the WHM // Tweak settings menu checks are performed to validate various aspects of the service, one of which governs if a reboot is needed due to a resize of the /tmp directory. When securetmp is in use this check is always returning true leading to the restart needed notification.

 

Description

This behavior is caused by a check within the cPanel software, where if a securetmp service file exists the file below is generated leading to the WHM panel showing a notification to reboot:

/var/run/securetmp_file_size_updated

We've opened an internal case for our development team to investigate this further. For reference, the case number is CPANEL-52014. Follow this article to receive an email notification when a solution is published in the product. 

 

Workaround

This notification is safe to ignore, restarting the server does cause it to go away however any changes to the WHM // Tweak Settings interface will cause it to return if securetmp is in use. For more information on what securetmp is, please see the article below:
